Activities outside of the school grounds are
a vital part of the outstanding education given to our children
at CVC. These activities include sports events and cultural
visits to Cambridge and beyond, educational trips connected
with Art, Geography and History studies, participation in the
Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, and many others.
The children who participate in these outings
include the able bodied as well as some with particular physical
needs. The means of travel we provide must therefore be inclusive
and adapted to the needs of all. This is why the Trustees of
CVC, since Christmas 2007, have been running an appeal for funds
for the purchase of a minibus specially equipped to cater for
students of all physical abilities.
In the six months that the Appeal
has been live the generosity of so many people and organisations
has been inspirational.
And imaginative...
One of the trustees, Georgina Forbes,
had the brilliant idea of creating a visual display of the minibus
giving a list of the various components of the vehicle. People
have responded enthusiastically, even many who have no direct
link to the College. Marilyn Manze, for instance, ran the Nashville
Marathon in the USA and has raised £534.00, while her
colleagues at Hoares Bank and the Bank itself have so far contributed
a remarkable £1900.00.

The Lord's
Taverners
The CVC Trust Fund Appeal to buy a new
minibus adapted for use by pupils of all physical abilities
has received a major boost. The Lord's
Taverners, a cricketing charity, have pledged to support
the appeal.
Instead of the college
buying a regular minibus for £26k and paying extra to
have it altered, the charity has agreed to make a specially
adapted vehicle available for £19k. It will still have
16 seats but additional features will allow those with physical
needs to use the new transport.
